Vinaya Coffee Moments – Delicious, but uncomfortable moments

My search for cafes from where to work continue. I came across this new place that opened up in JP Nagar, and on the way to my regular haunt for working from a cafe. I had not heard the name Vinaya Coffee Moments before but a quick look on Zomato and high ratings made me try it.

It is just off the main road in Puttenahalli and has a good amount of parking space. The place looks barebones from outside but it is appealing enough. I walked in on a weekday afternoon and the place was empty except for the staff. I picked the table closest to the order counter and settled down to work. I made a mistake of choosing a table for two and there was not enough place for my laptop and the food, but it was manageable.

I ordered a sandwich (79 something) and a pizza combo. The sandwich was quite good but the pizza was disappointing. I had ordered a cheese crust and there was hardly any cheese in it. I pointed it out to them and they said that this is the amount of cheese it would come with. Quite frankly, the service was not the best the first time I was there but it got better later. Maybe it was just a bad day.

The coffee is too small to suffice for me and there are no size options. For me, this is not a huge deal because the cost is reasonable and I would anyway need 2-3 cups of that amount of coffee. If you just wanted a regular of Cafe Coffee Day or Starbucks, you would find this too less. Calculating for multiple cups of coffee, the cost of coffee works out roughly the same as other chains. The coffee itself is good but can be a bit stronger.

The food, overall, is good. I would avoid pizzas, potato wedges (they were actually burnt), cupcakes, etc… The rest of the dishes I tried were good or at least okay. The cost of the food also varies between reasonable to expensive. I found the roll too small for the cost they charge and sandwiches a great value for money.

The place is not comfortable to work. All tables, save one, are at the same height as the seat of the chair. This is good for conversation and food but bad for working on a laptop. The arms of the chair further make it painful to bend down if the laptop is on the table. There is only one table which is at the height of a normal restaurant table. There is no WiFi either. I found a WiFi network and when I asked for the password, they said it is only for their use, not available for customers.

All in all, it is a nice place to hang out but not very comfortable to work. If I do, I try to work on the big table. I wouldn’t go here if this wasn’t so close. Still, the search continues for an ideal working place.
