UPDATE: For the 2014 cake show, please read my new blog post for a summary and photos.
This year’s cake show ended yesterday. As usual, it was held in St Joseph’s School Ground (near Mallya Hospital) and drew huge crowd to marvel at huge cakes (Char Minar cake was 20 ft high) as well as their detail.
Cake Show
As described in my last year’s post, the cake show has lost it’s art form and become merely a commercial event. The cakes are mostly only average. I noticed a small improvement in detail over last year’s cakes but still far from it’s original glory. I will let the photos do the talking. I wish they had a better quality screen as they further damaged the experience, both in seeing them and shooting pictures. The highlight of this year’s exhibition was supposed to be Sachin Tendulkar’s replica in cake form, but I was utterly unimpressed. So much so that I was not even interested in shooting a picture among the thronging crowd.
