I have been to Chung Wah at Bannerghatta Road (in Bangalore) a few times over the last few years. This place is a slight cut above many Chinese restaurants. That’s not saying much considering most Chindian (or Indese, whatever) restaurants serve only passable food.
Still, I have always enjoyed chopsueys, Sate Chickens, and Manchow Soup here. Yesterday, though, my experience was a little disheartening.
I went in yesterday for a quick, light lunch and was almost immediately ready with my order. The waiter was completely disinterested, apparently, in taking my order, though. I had to ask him twice or thrice to describe the brown sauce on Fujian Fried Rice. He would just say non-spicy and looked away.
The Fujian Fried Rice, however, was quite good, and so was the Manchow Soup. The Koi Theo was a little too strong for me.
The waiters who served us were much more friendly – just like my regular experience at Chung Wah. But the overall experience still pushed down this restaurant a few notches. Overall, I rate this at 3/5 stars.
